About Us and Our Mission
My name is John and co-founders of StreamlineED Professional Development. It’s our mission to empower teachers to empower students to be independent learners. Amy, Arthur, and I are science teachers at low-income public schools. Three of us came to the US did not know any English. Amy was the eldest in her family of five siblings, so she had to take on the role of parents while attending schools. Arthur and I were raised by a single mom in a family of five. To catch up with other students, we spent countless hours after school and public libraries. None of our parents knew any English or complete elementary. We had to find additional teachers from the many books at the library. Three of us graduated from the University of California of Riverside with degrees in Bachelor of Science in Biology, Teaching Credentials, and Master of education. Through more than a decade of our combined teaching experiences at low-income schools, we continued to witness at-risk students being left behind, and the media are blaming teachers for students’ underachievement and low-test scores. As current teachers, our mission is to enhance students’ learning by using strategies and technology to create transparency in our classes and schools. We believe that effective teachers are key to solve our current education problems.
Through many years of trials and errors, we tried to develop new teaching strategies that incorporate research and technology to provide learning equity for all students and create transparency in our education. Using research-based strategies and today’s technology, we redefine your assessments and lessons with auto-grading, adaptive, and real-time in-depth data, so you can provide immediate and individualized intervention to meet students’ diverse needs, especially those high-risk students such as English Learners, African Americans, Special Ed., and Foster Youths. Since 2017, we have concluded that our new and innovative teaching strategies and tools help to redefine the roles of teachers and the learning tasks to empower our students and provide learning equity. This is evident through our students’ work, positive feedback, and students’ increasing engagement, accountability, self-efficacy, and achievement. A crucial requirement to implement our teaching strategies is hosting an open-source Learning Management Website.
Why do we need your help?
Since we co-founded the company in 2018, we have spent of $10,000 on business expenses and server costs to support over a thousand students and teachers. However, we can only support limited numbers of teachers and students with our teaching salary. We need your help to support more teachers and students. Although we are not a non-profit organization, we promise to use 100% of your contribution to pay the server fees to support more teacher and students.
Why we did not form a nonprofit organization?
An important of our mission to build a network to empower teachers and also to reward teachers for innovation and work. We will build a marketplace for teachers to sell their amazing and original activities, lessons, and resources. Through this monetary reward system, we can inspire teachers to go beyond and innovate.
